Sombra
Sombra is an electronic/ambient EP exploring the boundaries between sound design and music composition. Six tracks built from textures, atmospheres, and the spaces between notes.

The Concept
The word "Sombra": shadow in Spanish: captures the EP's essence.
I wanted to build sound environments that felt alive. The tracks are less like songs and more like photographs of a changing atmosphere. I leaned heavily into granular synthesis and deep, reverb soaked pads to create a sound that rewards patient listening. It’s music for the moments when you’re figuring things out, the quiet stretches of the day.
Inspirations
As a UK Garage and Ambient music fan, Burial and Aphex Twin are some of my biggest inspirations for this EP. I wanted to create a sound that was both familiar and new, something that would transport the listener to another place that specific "night bus" atmosphere where everything feels slightly blurred.
Technical Architecture
For Sombra, I didn't want typical synths. I wanted textures that felt organic but clearly synthetic.
- Granular Synthesis: I deconstructed acoustic recordings into tiny grains, reassembling them into evolving soundscapes that feel like they're breathing.
- Atmospheric Layers: I used layered pads with subtle modulation to ensure no two seconds of a track are exactly the same.
- Field Recordings: I used real world recordings to ground the abstract electronic textures. It’s that intersection of the digital and the biological that I find most compelling.
The Tracks
1. Penumbra
Rhythmic study in stereo space. Textures pan between your left and right channels, mimicking the feeling of walking down a dark street, scanning the edges of your peripheral vision. It’s designed to induce a trance state focused, flowing, where the rhythm never breaks and the concentration only deepens as the reverbs expand.
2. Estresor
Tension as a formal constraint. Anticipation. Estresor uses sharper, more dissonant textures to simulate the friction of a high pressure environment, before eventually letting those sounds dissolve into a haunting, minimal resolution.
3. Extranjero
You are alone in a foreign country, everything is new, non familiar noises neither voices around you, you feel the weight of being alone and at the same time intense satisfaction of doing something new and exciting. Many questions, no answers, just the feeling of being there, in that moment.
4. Violencia
Rage, Run, Fight, Repeat.
5. Huida
Run, keep running, don't look back. Don't change the pace. Don't stop.
6. Lluvia
You are safe under the rain. She protects you. You can watch but not be seen.
It is a record about transition. Making room for the feeling of being lost, staying highly aware in that exact moment, and following the pull toward paths you never expected to take.
